BBC & NBCUniversal order hit format “The Traitors” from Studio Lambert

BBC and NBCUniversal announced today the order of a British and a US version of the hit Dutch psychological adventure format “The Traitors”.

The UK and US series will both be shot on location in the Scottish Highlands.

Filming for both series will commence in 2022.

Studio Lambert launches Scottish office

Studio Lambert is opening an office in the Scottish Highlands, based at Inverness. The company, which already has offices in London, Manchester and Los Angeles, plans to develop projects which will be filmed in the scenery of the Highlands.

The new Scottish office follows the success of Studio Lambert’s first out-of-London UK office in Manchester, which launched in November 2018.

Netflix orders seasons 4 and 5 of The Circle

On August 9 Netflix’s vice president of Unscripted and Documentary Series, Brandon Riegg revealed why the streamer had renewed The Circle for a further two seasons.

“Season 2 was already one of our most popular unscripted shows of 2021—more than 14 million households tuned in within 28 days after it premiered in April. Thanks to the overwhelming response, we’ve already renewed the show for two more seasons (4 and 5), so fans won’t have to wait long to see the new twists and surprises in store.”

ITV commissions ‘Undercover Big Boss’

ITV has commissioned a brand new series of the global hit Undercover Boss, the Emmy award-winning format from Studio Lambert, which will see a new group of chief execs and company bosses swap their power suits for overalls and go in disguise to work on their very own shop floors, to see what really goes on behind closed doors.

The four-part series will see bosses from Pickfords, Bristol Street Motors, Wyldecrest Parks, and Euro Foods Group roll up their sleeves and join workers on the bottom rung of the ladder and live a life they had long left behind.

E! orders Reunion Road Trip from Studio Lambert US

Studio Lambert reunites some of the most celebrated TV casts in its new event series Reunion Road Trip which launches on E! on June 10 at 9pm.

The casts of All My Children, Scrubs, A Different World and Queer Eye For The Straight Guy are getting back together to reminisce and share surprising revelations about their shows.

Cast announced for Three Families, Studio Lambert drama for BBC One

Three Families, from Studio Lambert, producers of Three Girls — the multi award-winning account of the Rochdale grooming scandal — will explore the emotive issues around abortion through the real stories of three Northern Irish women.

The cast includes Little Boy Blue actress Sinead Keenan, Lola Petticrew from Bloodlands, Amy James-Kelly (Gentleman Jack) and Genevieve O’Reilly (The Dry).

The Hustler renewed at ABC for summer schedule

ABC has ordered a second season of The Hustler.

Produced by Studio Lambert and hosted by Craig Ferguson, the show follows five contestants as they collaborate to answer a series of trivia questions aiming to build a collective prize pot, but there’s a twist.

“Outside of things like Holey Moley, we’re known for our reboots of old franchises,” said Rob Mills, EVP, Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment, Walt Disney Television. “So, it was really exciting that Stephen Lambert came in with something that felt kind of wholly original and something that we could make new and make work.”

Studio Lambert starts annual trainee scheme

Studio Lambert has selected three individuals as part of its inaugural trainee programme.

The 12-16 week scheme for scripted and unscripted trainees attracted hundreds of applicants and is to become an annual event.

It offers opportunities in areas from development and how to create unscripted sizzles, to gaining an insight into how to progress ideas with scripted screenwriters.

Gogglebox returns with strong ratings

The seventeenth series of Gogglebox on Channel 4 began on Friday 26 February.

It improved on the previous series opener by around 400,000 viewers to entertain 4.4m (24.3% share) in the overnight ratings, easily winning the 9pm slot.

The Hustler launches on ABC

Studio Lambert’s brand new game show, The Hustler, launches on ABC with a sneak preview on Monday 4 January, moving to its regular 10pm slot on Thursday 7 January.

The show breaks the game show mould – one player already knows all the answers.

It is hosted by Craig Ferguson.
