Studio Lambert goes Diamond Diving for Spike

Spike has announced that it has picked up a new original series, Diamond Divers, for a 10-episode season produced by Studio Lambert.

The show will chronicle the efforts of “an intrepid nautical crew from Washington state that travels to the infamous Skeleton Coast off the dangerous coast of South Africa, renowned for shipwrecks, to mine for diamonds.”

Channel 4 orders more Boss and Bed

Channel 4 has ordered a fourth series of Undercover Boss and a further 60 episodes of the daytime format Four in a Bed for 2012. This brings the total number of Four in a Bed episodes ordered since 2010 up to 140.

“We’re delighted that both these formats are working so well for Channel 4,” said Stephen Lambert. “Undercover Boss has become a hugely successful format worldwide, and Four in a Bed is now being produced in several territories.”

Emmy nomination for Boss second year running

Undercover Boss has been nominated again for a Primetime Emmy in the category of Best Reality Program. The other nominees are Hoarders, Antiques Roadshow, Deadliest Catch, Mythbusters, and Kathy Griffin: Life on the D List. The winner will be announced on the 10 August.

OWN & TLC pick up off-net rights to Boss

The Oprah Winfrey Network and TLC have jointly bought the re-run rights to Undercover Boss with the plan to schedule the CBS series beginning in fall 2012.

“Oprah helped launch Boss when she devoted a whole show to previewing the series just before its post-Super Bowl launch last year, so I’m delighted that the off-network rights have now gone to her network as well as TLC,” said Studio Lambert ceo Stephen Lambert.

Critics’ awards nominate Boss

The Broadcast TV Journalists Association, the recently launched offshoot of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, has announced nominations for its inaugural Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Undercover Boss is nominated in the Best Reality Show category. The awards are hosted by Cat Deeley and will take place at a luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel on June 20, 2011.

Mad Men network AMC orders The Pitch

AMC, the cable network that has found critical and popular success with drama such as Mad Men and The Walking Dead, has ordered one of its first two unscripted series from Studio Lambert. Each episode of The Pitch will follow ad agencies as they pitch accounts and create new campaigns. It is scheduled to premiere next year.

Lambert & Holzman rank high on The Hollywood Reporter list

Stephen Lambert and Eli Holzman rank #13 in the latest THR Reality Power list. The THR say that the rankings were determined by, among other things, having a reputation for quality and innovation; the indelible mark the person makes on his or her shows; and the person’s ability to create dramatic, comedic and can’t-miss TV.

Stephen Lambert will be one of the panellists at the annual Unscripted Hitmakers luncheon at the Beverley Hilton Hotel on April 12. Moderated by Larry King, the panel will feature a candid look at the creation and production of successful unscripted television.

CBS picks up Boss for season 3

CBS has ordered a third season of Undercover Boss.

In its first year, Undercover Boss was the number one new show of the season and earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality Program.

This season, airing against Sunday Night Football for the first time, Boss remains a top 20 program in viewers, averaging 12.3 million and a 3.4/09 in adults 18-49.

Studio Lambert to produce Nutopia formats in US

Studio Lambert has signed a production partnership deal with Jane Root’s production company Nutopia.

American versions of Nutopia’s UK-created formats will be produced in the US with Studio Lambert.

Love Thy Neighbour starts 3rd March

Channel 4 starts showing Studio Lambert‘s series Love Thy Neighbour on 3rd March.

Twelve families compete to prove that they deserve to win a home in the picture-postcard perfect Yorkshire Dales village of Grassington.

The series will be shown at 9pm on Thursdays for eight weeks.

Boss wins at Broadcast Awards

Undercover Boss won the award for best International Programme Sales at the annual Broadcast Awards held in the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The other nominees were Being Human, MasterChef, Life, Jamie’s American Food Revolution, and Four Weddings.

Multi-platform release for The Flaw

New Video, a leading independent distributor of quality entertainment, has acquired US rights to The Flaw. It plans to release the film on DVD, cable video-on-demand and digital distribution.

It will also give it a limited theatrical run later this year through the company’s Docurama Films banner.

Producers’ Guild nominates Boss

The Producers’ Guild of America has nominated the producers of Undercover Boss in the category of ‘Outstanding Producers of Non-Fiction Television’.

The 2011 PGA awards take place at the Beverly Hilton on January 22nd.
