Channel 4 orders another series of How to Get a Council House and Four in a Bed

Channel 4 has ordered a third series of the much-talked-about documentary series How to Get a Council House.

At the same, another 100 episodes of Four in a Bed have been ordered

You Can’t Get the Staff starts airing on Channel 4 from 20 October

This is an entertaining series following privileged Brits as they seek to fill positions in their home – from butlers to gardeners, housekeepers, nannies and grooms.

Featuring Sir Humphry Wakefield, desperately seeking someone to polish his armour, Princess Olga Romanoff recruiting a new ‘garden boy’, and Sara Vestin Rahmani looking for a butler to help care for her dogs, the series will shine a warm light upon the reality of domestic service in the twenty-first century, and take a look behind the doors of some of Britain’s grandest homes.

This documentary series follows eight very different households in their kitchens, as they cook, eat and share their lives. The Kitchen will transmit from 6 October.

Gogglebox wins Rose d’Or

Outstanding achievement for the best and most creative TV, online and radio formats worldwide has been recognised at the 53rd Rose d’Or ceremony in Berlin.

Golden Rose Awards were presented in nine categories and Gogglebox won the reality and factual entertainment category.

Gogglebox returns for a new series on 26 September.

Promotions and new hire

Tim Harcourt has been promoted from Head of Development to Creative Director and Tania Alexander, the show runner of Gogglebox has been made Director of Factual Entertainment.

Chief Executive Stephen Lambert said “Tim has been a brilliant head of development and he’s playing an increasingly active role in selling shows to UK broadcasters. Given that I spend a lot of time in America, I don’t want the selling process to depend on me being here,” Lambert said.

He added that Alexander has been an “important part of the success of Studio Lambert” and highlighted her production sensibilities as one of the keys to Gogglebox’s success.

And at the same time Jack Burgess, formerly Head of Development at NBCUniversal International, has joined the company as Head of Development.

Second season of True Tori ordered by Lifetime

True Tori, the Studio Lambert docu-series about Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott’s efforts to save their marriage after his cheating scandal, is returning for a second season on Lifetime.

Season two, which will once again be eight episodes, will premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Gogglebox won the BAFTA in the Reality & Constructed Factual category, beating The Big Reunion, Dragons’ Den and The Undateables.

Stephen Lambert to enter Realscreen Awards Hall of Fame

Stephen Lambert, chief executive of Studio Lambert and chairman of All3Media America, will be inducted into the Realscreen Awards Hall of Fame on June 4 during the Realscreen Awards ceremony in Santa Monica.

“As the leader of the team behind the Channel 4 hit Gogglebox, and creator of such world-beating formats as Undercover Boss, Wife Swap and Secret Millionaire, Stephen Lambert’s innovative flair and penchant for big, bold ideas has provided the unscripted genre, and television itself, with some of its greatest moments,” said realscreen editor and content director Barry Walsh.

“We at realscreen named Stephen as one of our Trailblazers for 2013 in our publication, and this award is meant to further recognize and reward the creativity he’s displayed throughout the course of his career.”
