Sundance picks The Flaw

Studio Lambert‘s feature documentary The Flaw has been selected for competition in the World Cinema Documentary category of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival which will be held next month in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.

This year 12 films were selected in this category from 796 international documentary submissions.

Channel 4 re-commissions three series

The Fairy Jobmother will return to the UK after helping America’s unemployed and a second and longer run of Four in a Bed, the half-hour stripped version of Three in a Bed which has been attracting more than 2 million viewers a day in the 5.30pm slot, has been ordered for 2011.

And UK Undercover Boss has been re-commissioned for a third series.

Studio Lambert to produce Betty formats in US

Studio Lambert has signed a partnership deal with Freaky Eaters producer Betty.

The production partnership deal will see Betty’s UK-created formats produced by the US arm of Studio Lambert in America.

Studio Lambert sets up Welsh division

Studio Lambert has launched a Welsh trading division in Cardiff. Studio Lambert Wales is being spearheaded by development executive Sian Price.

Sian has worked on a wide range of series, including Channel 4’s Time Team and a BBC1 living history series set in Snowdonia.

Two Studio Lambert formats win C21/FRAPA format awards

The Fairy Jobmother won the best factual entertainment format award at the C21/Frapa International Format Awards and Three in a Bed won the best competition reality format award.

The two shows were recognised at a ceremony in Cannes during MIPCOM.

Six celebrities complete Machu Picchu trek for ITV2

Denise Van Outen, Fearne Cotton, Alexandra Burke, Gabriella Cilmi and Amanda Byram have returned to the UK after completing a trek through the Andes in Peru in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

Studio Lambert filmed their journey for a two part series for ITV2 that starts airing on 25 October.

Channel 4 re-commissions Three in a Bed

Channel 4 has commissioned a second run of B&B series Three in a Bed and topped up the order with a stripped daytime version.

Studio Lambert will produce 10 x 60-minutes of the primetime version. The new daytime version, titled Four in a Bed, will feature half hour episodes stripped over four weeks (20 x 30mins).

Huffington Post says Lambert is a ‘Game Changer’

Lifetime orders eight hours of The Fairy Jobmother

Lifetime Television will launch a US version of Studio Lambert‘s hit UK format to be hosted by career specialist Hayley Taylor.

Lifetime will sneak peek the first episode October 28 following Project Runway Finale before moving the show to regular time period at 9pm Thursdays.

Another helping of Southern Fried Stings

truTV has ordered a second season of its hit series Southern Fried Stings.

Throughout its initial run, the show consistently ranked among cable’s Top 5 entertainment programs for the Monday 10-11pm timeslot.

Southern Fried Stings is set to return with eight new episodes beginning in October.

Three new premieres this month

Three Studio Lambert series launch in September.  

Mel B: It’s a Scary World starts on Style on Sunday 5 September at 9pm.

Seven Days begins on Wednesday 22 September at 10pm on Channel 4.

And Undercover Boss returns to CBS in a special 10pm slot on Sunday 26 September, before moving to its regular 9pm slot the following week.

Two new series make strong start

Two new series from Studio Lambert attracted strong ratings in their launch week (12-18 July).

The first episode of The Fairy Jobmother had an audience of 2.2 million on Tuesday in the 9pm slot on Channel 4; “unusually subtle and utterly compelling” said the Guardian.

Two days later 3.7 million watched the first episode of the first full series of UK Undercover Boss.

Boss nominated for Primetime Emmy

Undercover Boss has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy in the category of Outstanding Reality Pogram.

The other nominees are Jamie’s Food Revolution, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters and Antiques Roadshow.

The winner will be announced at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards (in the creative arts categories) on Saturday, August 21.

Ten episode Mel B show greenlit by Style

The Comcast-owned Style cable network has greenlit a 10-episode docu-soap starring former Spice Girl Melanie Brown and her husband Stephen Belafonte, with a premiere date targeted for September.

The Mel B Project will follow Brown as she juggles her performing career with wife and motherhood.

Channel 4 has ordered a new kind of elimination series from Studio Lambert.

Eight people move into a house in a beautiful rural village and the residents of the village will decide who they think is the right person to become a permanent member of their community and win the house.

CBS orders second season of Undercover Boss

CBS has ordered a second cycle of the hit reality series Undercover Boss for the 2010/11 broadcast season.

The show is the number one new series of the 2009-2010 season, averaging 18.74 million viewers, 8.0/17 in adults 25-54 and 7.1/17 in adults 18-49.

Undercover Boss’ record-breaking US premiere

Undercover Boss’ premiere episode, shown on CBS on 7 February 2010 immediately after the Super Bowl, was seen by 38.6 million viewers, which means it attracted the largest audience ever for a new series following the Super Bowl since the advent of people meters in 1987.

It also had the largest audience ever for the premiere episode of a reality series in the USA.

Channel 4 commissions ground-breaking series

Channel 4 has ordered a new kind of multi-character observational documentary series from Studio Lambert.

The real-time weekly programme will show the lives of its characters as they experienced them in the previous seven days. Set in west London’s Notting Hill, it will start this autumn.

Oprah previews Undercover Boss

On 1 February, Oprah Winfrey will dedicate her entire show to previewing Undercover Boss.

The COO of Waste Management and the CEO of 7-11 will appear on Oprah with the co-workers featured in their episodes of Undercover Boss.

truTV greenlights new series Southern Fried Stings

truTV has ordered a new eight episode series that follows a former state trooper and his team as they go after people engaged in illicit activities, from dealing drugs to fencing stolen goods.

The series is produced jointly by Studio Lambert and Zoo Productions and is set to premiere in March 2010.
