The Circle is a reality competition for the social media age, with a very big twist – the players never meet face to face during the game. Instead they live in separate apartments in the same building, interacting with one another through a bespoke voice-activated social media platform called The Circle.

They chat, make friends, play games, argue and even fall in love, forming private cliques and rivalries with people they have never met. Appearances are everything and no one wants to be rated the least popular by the rest or they could be blocked from the game. It’s a test of strategy and popularity, which asks provocative questions about identity and how we live our lives online. Who will be voted most popular? And were they playing themselves or as a catfish?
